Tips:
1. How to fix the issue that some scenes have too much noise?
For interior scenes with dark lighting, or scenes with inadequate skylight, too much exposure can cause such a problem. We suggest that you lower the exposure and add more artificial and natural light sources so that more light can get into the scene.
2. Why some models, once imported into D5, cannot be moved (or edited)?
Please check the model's status.
“Locked” and “Unlocked” are the two common statuses of a model. Locked models can not be selected in the scene, nor can they be moved, rotated, or scaled. When selected in the lists, they can only be saved (into the local asset library), exported, reloaded and replaced. You can click on the material to edit it.
Unlocked models can be selected from the lists/scenes and further edited. To select a model's material, use the material picker (shortcut key "i") or toggle it to “Locked”.
3. Why is the output different from what I see in preview?
You can select a different preview quality in the drop-down menu of Preview. Middle and low preview quality automatically turn off ray tracing features including reflection and shadows, which causes the difference between the output and preview. High preview quality turns on all ray tracing features for a physically realistic result after a short automatic convergence. Therefore, a high-quality preview will look much closer to the output.
Reflective computation of the output is more precise than that of High-quality preview. For scenes with a considerable amount of reflections (scenes with many glasses and mirrors), the output can be a little brighter compared with the preview. To deal with that, you can lower the lighting intensity and specular parameters of some materials. We will fix it in the following versions.
4. Any tips for users with computer configuration incapable of dealing with large projects?
Generally, the larger the graphic card memory, the better D5 performs when dealing with complex scenes. It is recommended to have RTX series cards in place if your day is to deal with large scenes.
Some more tips for your reference:
Moderate reduction of the polygon
Run D5 Render as administrator and restart your computer. D5 will modify TDR automatically, which greatly improves stability.
Turn on DLSS
Features like Depth of Field and Tyndall Effect consume a lot of memory, so turn them off if necessary.
High-resolution maps take up a lot of video memory, too. Consider replacing maps in distance with lower resolution options.
Scenes with a large number of reflections are relatively slow. Try setting the specular parameter of faraway materials to 0 to avoid reflection.
GPU usage data that comes with Windows might not be accurate. Recommend to use GPU-Z and check the parameter “sensor - memory used” for a better video memory management.
In the meantime, D5 2.1 has greatly enhanced its capacity to handle models, and the Auto-save function is also added to improve stability. But still, it is never too important to implement a good resource management strategy (for RAM and VRAM) because this ensures that your device can work in an optimal condition.
Updates
Q: When will D5 2.1 be released?
A: D5 Render 2.1 is now in closed beta testing. We will update release notes before its official release, so please stay tuned!
News
1. We have launched a new activity called “Scene Express” hoping that it can take you on a ride of amazing works and beautiful souls, fueling you with a spark of inspiration.
You can share your scenes made with D5 Render and start an express, or you can get on the express from other users by downloading the scene and making your own creation based on it. Go check out!
2. With D5 Team expanding, a new office area has been put to use. Some big changes include a snack zone, stairs for photos or taking a nap, and a huge projector screen for us to watch the Olympic games or play Switch together :)
